DC Department of Energy and Environment and DC Office of Planning

2023

Brick & Story worked with the Department of Energy and Environment (DOEE) and the DC Office of Planning  (OP) to conduct a Racial Equity Impact Analysis (REIA) of the Sustainable DC 2.0 Plan, in order to understand opportunities to increase impact on racial equity through the next version of the plan. Brick & Story conducted a full analysis of the plan as written in version 2.0, as well as various targeted stakeholder engagement efforts in order to best understand where the plan has the most opportunity to increase racial equity, economic justice, and climate justice in Washington, DC. These engagement efforts included targeted community pop-ups and focus groups with specific target populations. Brick & Story’s engagement process intentionally sought out voices of DC residents who have historically been less represented in public processes and who would receive the greatest benefit from a plan that works towards a more equitable DC.
