Brick & Story worked with Montgomery Parks to engage the diverse communities surrounding the Johnson’s Local Park in Gaithersburg, MD, for its park renovation project and new historic storytelling program. Brick & Story’s focused on engaging multifamily apartment communities and immigrant neighbors of the park, including both Latinx and African immigrants. Brick & Story also supported Montgomery Parks in finding ways to bring diverse community voices together to collaborate about future plans for the park. These groups included the African American community leading the larger redevelopment project and who brings rich history to this area. Engagement strategy also included considering ways that Johnson’s Local Park might fit into larger the development process. As part of this process, Brick & Story provided strategic support to help the client understand how their “Untold Stories” program can play a key role in the upgrades to Johnson’s Local Park as a form of community celebration and future visioning
