Washington, DC

In collaboration with AECOM, Brick & Story is supporting DC’s Office of Planning with community engagement expertise to guide the update to their Comprehensive Plan, “DC 2050.” This is the city’s first full rewrite effort in nearly 20 years, with a focus ensuring that the city grows equitably, with vibrant and resilient neighborhoods over the next 25 years.

Brick & Story is leading community engagement efforts, including providing strategic direction, community connections, and on the ground implementation. The team has and will continue to support the design and implementation of engagement tools, including open houses, focus groups, workshops, roundtable discussion, ANC and CBO partnerships, community pop-ups, and online surveys. We have also played a key role in DC 2050's strategic communications efforts through newsletters, social media, videos, photos, promotional materials, and more. Brick & Story has particularly focused on supporting the Office of Planning’s team on building a comprehensive strategy to reach historically underrepresented populations and to facilitate difficult conversations about change, growth, and equity as part of this process. The team continues to collaborate with AECOM and the Office of Planning to increase equitable engagement and elevate the voices of communities most impacted by future growth through this planning process.
